We are very happy that we were able to facilitate the children, teachers and parent of the Sulugune Primary School who came on a trip to Colombo on 5th of March.

We started the Colombo tour from the Dehiwala Zoo in the early morning. Everybody enjoyed the tour of the zoo and around 10.00 am we provided them with snacks and drinks courtesy of Amila Kulathunga. Little later we all enjoyed some ice cream at the snack bar near jungle cats (position 21).

After the zoo we went to the restaurant Lani’s place 1, Dehiwala for lunch and to hangout at the beach. Everybody enjoyed the beach and the small play area in the restaurant thoroughly. Most of them took back sea water and sea sand as souvenirs. Then all had lunch and ate ice cream to their heart’s content.

After lunch we gave out all the gifts that were ready for them, which includes all the school stationery for the new year (which starts at the end of March), new and used clothing and some nutritious food for kids. To our amazement they brought gifts for us too. That was very heart warming.

Then we went to the famous Galle face which is a must visit for anybody coming to Colombo. They spent some time enjoying the see breeze, buying small toys & taking pics. We offered them tea and biscuits curtesy of Aruna Nishantha.

After enjoying tea, we went to our final destination for the day. The famous lotus towers. They were able to witness the spectacular view over Colombo city, the beautiful sun set. Also most of them experienced the high speed elevator and the escalator for the first time in their life.

The visit to the lotus towers concluded the tour. We provided some more snacks for the road to them and said our good byes hoping to meet them again soon.

We sincerely would like to thank everyone who supported this event in various ways making this a reality. Among them we would like to thank specially Mr. Nishan Alwis Kavind the manager of People’s Park Sales outlet of Akura Pilot Publication who helped us greatly to put together the stationary list of all students, Mr. Lani the founder of Lani’s Foundation and Restaurant (Lani’s Place 1) for allowing us to use the restaurant & its facilities with some food items for lunch, Mr. Sanvindu the owner of The Backyard Karaoke By Zenith Entertainment who went extra mile to fulfil our lunch order in the exact way we requested, The owner of Trendy Folder Wholesale තොග ඇදුම් වෙළෙඳපොළ for providing new clothing for kids, Mr. Thushan Jayawardane for designing and manufacturing the ties required for the school, the crew of the snack bar at Dehiwala Zoo near the jungle cats (position 21) for giving us a special service, last but not least the principal & teachers of Sulugune school and every single friend of Ekamuththo who joined hands to making this a reality.
