After being under attack from weather for many years the bell tower of the Andawala Udagama temple lost it’s luster. We decided it’s time to give it a make over.

During our book donation tour in the end of 2019 we learned that there are nutritional deficiencies among the students in Sulugune primary school. De decided to step in and do what we can.
We ventured into 3 rural villages in Wilgamuwa area in search of kids who are in great need of outside help. We were surprised so much with what we have found. It was unforgettable.
Though the Bodhi maluwa had new lights and fresh coat of paint the walkway was in a bad shape. It needed a new layer of sand and we set out to find it.
After painting and lighting up the Bodhi Maluwa we turned our attention to the rest of the temple. It needed lots of works. We had to start from somewhere. Final result was more paint and more lights.
This is not one of our usual projects but we found a sponsor who are willing to provide funding to start small scale chicken farms for eggs. So we thought it might help somebody and jumped in.
In an effort to give a helping hand to those who need it, we started sponsoring six kids for their education with monthly monetary donations.
Andawala Udagama Purana Viharaya lacked a proper water supply despite having many water sources in the vicinity. We decided that it’s time for the temple to have a proper water supply.
Bo tree is very sacred to Buddhists because Lord Buddha became enlightened under it. During our visits we noticed that the “Bodhi Maluwa” (where Bo tree is located in a temple) in Andawala Udgama temple is in complete darkness at night. We wanted to change it.
We arranged a lunch for the kids in Jagaddala children’s home. We were so happy to be there and spend some quality time with them.
